Johannesburg - Politicians voiced their condemnation on Tuesday of the murder of a Soshanguve woman, allegedly set alight by her husband.

The department of women, children and people with disabilities said Agnes Ramagoshi, 45, was doused with petrol by her husband before being set alight.

"We urge the law-enforcement agencies to do everything in their power to ensure that Ramagoshi and other victims of crime get justice," Women's Minister Lulu Xingwana said in a statement.

The Sowetan website reported that the attack happened in June following an argument between the married couple.

Agnes Ramagoshi was seriously injured and her husband, Matthew "Mateu" Ramagoshi, 50, was arrested and charged with assault.

However, the charge was changed to murder, following her recent death as a result of her burns.
Gauteng Legislature Inkatha Freedom Party leader Bonginkosi Dlamini also decried the attack.
