Priest held for theft at church

2012-07-23 12:01

Johannesburg - A priest was arrested for theft and malicious damage to property after a church service in Soweto, according to a report on Monday.

This was after a congregant laid a complaint with the police about him, the Sowetan newspaper reported.

The complainant told the publication he had lent his vehicle to the Uniting Reformed Church priest in 2010 as he did not own one.

"In September last year I checked on the car with the minister and realised that the engine was missing," he was quoted as saying.

The priest had apparently promised to fix the car but did not.

He was taken to the Protea Glen police station and is due to appear in court on Monday.

Neither am I. Just more proof that Christians are no more (and probably less) moral than the rest of society.

Why did the police wait until Sunday, could'nt they go to his house. Which church member wants to witness such a disturbing matter after a service. There was no media when this arrangement was done. Solve your church issues amongst yourselves. Just pray your pastor, the law will sort out the rest.

      zaatheist - 2012-07-23 14:12

Sunday is a great day to arrest a priest. So let the sheeple see the guy exposed and arrested. Maybe they might start to wonder about the god he preaches about. As for pray the pastor. Surely you mean pay the pastor. That is what they are in the religious business for.
