Johannesburg - Five people have been arrested for the murder of a principal at her school in New Crossroads in the Cape Flats, Western Cape police said on Friday.

Nomzoxolo Dziba, the acting principal of Sithembele Matiso secondary school, was shot dead outside her office on August 24, said Captain Bernadine Steyn.

On Thursday evening, two men and a woman were arrested for her murder while travelling in the direction of Cradock from Graaff-Reinet in the Eastern Cape.

Earlier in the day, two men, aged 21 and 31, were arrested in the Cape Town area. They will appear in court on Monday.
