Polokwane - The investigation into the deaths of three orphaned Limpopo children should be made a priority, the Democratic Alliance in the province said on Monday.

"The shocking brutality of this triple murder and rape cannot go unpunished," the DA's education spokesperson Desiree van der Walt said in a statement.

Bafana Kekana, 9, Hosea Richard Kekana, 10, and Johana Kekana, 12, were last seen on Wednesday at the Dikobo Primary School during a march to demand more teachers.

Their bodies were found on Saturday. Their hands and feet had been bound with shoelaces. They had been stoned to death. Johana, the girl, was raped before she was killed. They lived at the Montadi youth care centre.

Bafana and Hosea were brothers. The boys' mother was Johana's aunt.

"We call on the police and prosecutors to guarantee the arrest and conviction of the cold-blooded perpetrators without delay," said Van der Walt.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said police were searching for those responsible.
