Prisoners overpower cops, on the run

Johannesburg - Eight prisoners escaped from holding cells at a police station in Esikhawini, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Thursday.
The prisoners allegedly overpowered two police officers, took their guns and escaped at 20:30 on Wednesday, Captain Thulani Zwane said.
The prisoners are Siboniso Mdletshe, 28, Sibonelo Mpanza, 29, Sibusiso Zulu, 21, Nduduzo Mnguni, 29, Boy Mlungwana, 31, Bheki Mazibuko, 19, Sibusiso Mnguni, 24 and Sthembiso Mdletshe, 25.
The men were held for various cases including murder, attempted murder, armed robbery, rape and possession of property suspected to be stolen.
Cases of escaping from lawful custody and robbery have since been opened.
Members of the public were advised not to confront the men as they were regarded as dangerous criminals.
