Private school robbed in Johannesburg

Johannesburg - A private school in Honeydew, Johannesburg was robbed by a gang of four armed men on Friday, police said.

The four tied the security guard up at the Charterhouse College at 01:00 on Friday, said Warrant Officer Karen Jacobs.

"They put the guard in a storeroom and ransacked the offices. They fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money and electrical appliances," she said.

    They were actually from the Gauteng education department and got away with four dictionaries, seven pencils and a blackboard duster. This is in line with the current drive by the department to bolster the level of education in Gauteng.

    Why is the management of the school keep money at the premises? Trying to avoid paying taxes?

      The money was locked away in a safe. This monies was due to be paid to the gardener and the cleaning lady. They will now have to wait for their pay until the police investigation is completed.
