Psychiatric man attacks patients
Polokwane - A psychiatric patient attacked people waiting to be helped at a hospital in Limpopo last week, the provincial health department said on Monday.
A 35-year-old man from Phalaborwa was brought to the Maphuta Malatji Hospital by his mother for a check-up, spokesperson Cecil Motsepe said in a statement.
At the hospital he allegedly started assaulting the only two white patients in the queue. He then turned on another two people before security guards restrained him.
"The hospital management will today visit the family of the aggrieved parties with the aim of conveying an apology and to demonstrate that the actions of the alleged aggressor party are regrettable.
"We are not sure what the family wants to do, but we will not stand in their way if they want to lay charges," Motsepe said.
