Pretoria - A security guard was shot dead in central Pretoria on Monday, apparently in an argument with another guard, police said.
Inspector Percy Morokane said on Tuesday that Alfred Mahlangu, 32, was on duty at Sanlam Centre at the corner of Pretorius and Andries streets about 09:00.
A second guard, who worked for a different company, arrived and the two apparently had an argument about money which Mahlangu owed the other man.
Morokane said: "The 34-year-old suspect allegedly pulled out a 9mm pistol and shot Mahlangu twice in the head."
The gurad was arrested and was due to appear in Pretoria magistrate's court on Tuesday.
On Monday, the naked body of a woman in her early thirties was found in the veld near Diepsloot, south-west of Centurion, said Morokane.
She had multiple stab wounds.
A passerby found the body in the late afternoon and contacted police. The woman had not yet been identified.
"We don't know the motive for the killing yet," said Morokane.
