Pretoria - A couple who reportedly made a hijacked car their home last year, appear to have struck again, targeting a Pretoria car dealer.
Pretoria police believe the couple hijacked an Opel Astra in Hatfield last week.
Police have launched a huge search for Abraham Koekemoer, 46, and his wife, Geraldine, 26. Koekemoer has been using various pseudonyms, including Carel, Adriaan and Mathys.
Koekemoer is apparently a former Koevoet member.
Captain Piletji Sebola for Pretoria police warned that Koekemoer was extremely dangerous. He is reportedly in possession of various guns, including a pistol, revolver and .22 rifle.
During last week's hijacking, a car dealer in Schoeman Street, Hatfield, took the couple for a test drive. Koekemoer allegedly overpowered the man in Soutpansberg Road in the Moot.
The salesman was threatened with a pistol and flung from the car. His cellphone was stolen.
It was learnt that Koekemoer and his wife reportedly stayed at the Joos Becker caravan park, north of the city.
During the 2001 hijacking, a man overpowered and threatened an Auto Xtra Renault car salesman in the city during a test drive on Klapperkop, a hill overlooking the city. The car was recovered a year later in a battered condition in Brits. Police were unable to apprehend Koekemoer.
They found pots, medicine, photos, school certificates and a Bible in the car. It was suspected the couple and two children had been living in the car.
Newspaper clippings of former boxing champion and photo-strip hero Stoffel Willemse were found in the hijacked car.
The couple's two sons, aged five and 16, appear to be on the run with them.
