Cape Town - A 15-year-old boy was killed in a street fight between two groups of high-school boys in Athlone, Western Cape police said on Friday.
Maruwaan Blankenberg and his friends had an argument with another group of boys on Thursday, which ended in a brick-throwing fight in Denchworth street, police spokesperson Captain William Reid said.
They also assaulted each other with their belts.
Reid said that Blankenberg died from a wound to the chest that could have been inflicted by a sharp object.
Police arrested five boys between the ages of 16 and 19 years old at their homes.
They are all pupils of the Ned Doman High School in Athlone. They would appear in the Athlone magistrate's court on Friday.
