Cape Town - Officials recovered perlemoen and drugs worth nearly R1.4m during a special operation, the City of Cape Town said on Thursday.

The City's metro police teamed up with the SA Police Service to search various premises on Wednesday, said safety and security mayoral committee member JP Smith.

"In Mfuleni, they arrested a man and a woman after recovering 2 112 abalone in a freezer with an estimated street value of R528 000."

On Wednesday evening, officers arrested a person in Brooklyn after finding two kilograms of tik and a kilogram of cocaine, with an estimated street value of R837 700.

Smith said the arrests were the result of good intelligence, tip-offs and co-operation between various agencies.
