Johannesburg - The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) has welcomed the high bail amount imposed in the trial of a man accused of killing five joggers while driving drunk.
Spokesperson Ashref Ismail said: "We welcome both the R80 000 bail and the suspension of his driver's license... we want this condition to be upheld for all cases of drunken driving."
He said the bail amount should be standard practice for those who were facing similar charges.
Sibusiso Langa appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court on Friday.
He faced five charges of murder, one of attempted murder and one of drunken driving.
The case was postponed to November 25 for further investigation.
Langa was allegedly drunk when he drove into the runners on October 23.
The joggers were preparing for the Soweto Marathon.
