2012-04-07 20:33

Johannesburg - Medical staff at the Boitumelo hospital were trying to save the life of a 10-year-old girl who found floating and unresponsive in a pool at resort in Kroonstad, paramedics said on Saturday.

ER24 spokesperson Vanessa Jackson said it was unclear how long the girl was floating in the pool.

"Lifeguards are believed to have pulled her out of the water and she was not breathing and had no pulse.

"They started CPR and called in the paramedics. Paramedics arrived at the scene and took over CPR from the lifeguards.

"They then continued to try and revive the girl while loading her into the ambulance to get her to hospital. They took her to the Boitumelo Hospital, where CPR efforts continued."

She was transported to the hospital where staff continued efforts to save her life, said Jackson.
