Racists 'brand' deputy mayor

Cape Town - Hessequa deputy mayor Lorna Scott's car windows have been smashed in and the word "kafferboetie" spray-painted on the vehicle.
This is not the first time she has been the object of a racial attack - only, this time, it was on her farm in the Stilbaai area.
Scott, who is an ANC member, said she'd heard the dogs barking.
Her son, who's still in primary school, went to investigate and saw people outside.
Scott looked on helplessly as they vandalised the car.
"I don't know what to say.
"Only now is the shock setting in."
Previously, Scott has been spat at twice and has been called a "wit kaffer".
Mayor is 'bitterly disappointed'
Scott couldn't tell how many people had been involved in the attack on her farm.
"The police are here at the moment. We don't know what they used to smash in the windows.
"I stay on a farm and it's very dark. We couldn't see anything," said an upset Scott.
Mayor Chris Taute said he was bitterly disappointed.
"We expected this and that it would get worse after she had been spat at.
"We know who spat at her, but in the interests of nation building didn't want to lay a charge.
"Now, we're going to make statements and the police will have to investigate.
Scott said her daughter, who's also still in primary school, was in tears after the attack.
"But she's OK now.
Husband off to DRC soon
Scott's husband, who works in the Democratic Republic of Congo, was at home at the time of the attack, but will be leaving for the DRC again soon.
Taute said they would "sort out" Scott's safety issues.
"But residents will have to accept that we are here to stay."
Hassequa and Bitou municipalities are the only ones where the ANC won an outright majority in the local-government elections.
