2012-05-03 16:25
Johannesburg - Three policemen were arrested in Randburg on Thursday for allegedly soliciting a bribe, Gauteng police said.

Captain Pinky Tsinyane said the three officers, aged between 30 and 35, arrested a man on 25 March and told him they would arrange for him to be released if he paid them R3 000.

The man, who was detained at Randburg police station, paid the bribe and was released the following day.

On Thursday, Randburg police and the Hawks arrested the three policemen while they were on duty.

"Gauteng police are committed to root out corruption in this province, and this is one of the many incidents confirming our commitment," Tsinyane said.

The three would appear in Randburg Magistrate's Court soon, she said.
