Johannesburg - Five men who allegedly raped a 13-year-old girl in Soweto two months ago after "buying" her from a woman were arrested, Johannesburg police said on Sunday.

The five men, from Jabulani hostel, were arrested on Saturday night, Inspector Kay Makhubela said.

A 34-year-old woman allegedly "sold" them the teenager in August for an undisclosed amount of cash and they then allegedly raped her.

"The 13-year-old girl gave us information to where she was sold and [the men] were arrested."

The men, aged between 23 and 38, and the woman, were expected to appear in the Protea Magistrate's Court on Monday to face charges of rape.
