Raped woman found under bed

2012-02-19 14:30

Johannesburg - A man has been arrested for allegedly raping a woman in Vaalpark, Sasolburg, early on Saturday morning, said Free State police.

The woman was reportedly employed to look after two children when the man placed his hand on her mouth around 01:00 and pulled her from her bed, said Constable Peter Kareli in a statement.

"It is alleged that she was being pulled by the brother of the owner of the house. He allegedly instructed her not to scream and took her to another room where he raped her a couple of times," said Kareli.

The children apparently started crying when they noticed the woman was no longer in the room, waking their aunt who was sleeping in another room.

The aunt looked for the woman and notified the owner of the house, who was in Bloemfontein, that she couldn't find the woman.

The owner contacted police.

The aunt reportedly then heard a sound under the man's bed, where she found the woman half-naked and shaking, said Kareli.

Police arrived, and after speaking to the woman, arrested the man with the woman taken to a place of safety.

The man was expected to appear in the Sasolburg Magistrate's Court on Monday.
