Rapist found sleeping next to victim

Johannesburg - The rapist of an 82-year-old woman was arrested
when he was found asleep on her bed afterwards, Eastern Cape police said on
Tuesday.
Residents of Xilinxa village in Siqithini Location,
Ngqamakwe, alerted the police when they found the 42-year-old man on the
woman's bed in the early hours on Monday, said police spokesperson Jackson
Manatha. He was arrested.
Manatha said the elderly woman woke when the man opened
the door to her room at 23:00 on Sunday.
He threatened her with a knife and raped her before
falling asleep.
Manatha said the woman left the man on her bed and went
to alert her son, who was sleeping in another room.
"Her son called community members, who alerted
police," he said.
The man, who was identified as a friend of the woman's
son, was arrested and was being held at the Ngqamakwe police station.
He was expected to appear in the Ngqamakwe Magistrate's
Court on Wednesday on a charge of rape.
