Johannesburg - A man was arrested in Snake Park, Soweto, on Sunday morning for allegedly raping a teenager, Gauteng police said.
"He was accused of dragging a 14-year-old girl to a backyard shack he is renting in Dobsonville where he allegedly raped her on Thursday afternoon," said Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela.
Following a tip-off, the man, 27, was arrested in a house he was hiding in, Makhubela said
It is believed the girl was returning from a shop when she was attacked by the man.
Her family reported the incident after the 14-year-old told them about it when she returned home.
In a separate incident, a 42-year-old man from Dobsonville was arrested on Sunday for allegedly raping a 33-year-old woman on Saturday.
Makhubela said the woman told police the man raped her at his home after the two had returned from a bar on Saturday night.
"She came to report a case of rape moments after she allegedly managed to flee from the man," said Makhubela.
The man was arrested at his home later.
Both men were expected to appear in the Protea Magistrate's Court on Monday.
