Rea Vaya court interdict denied
Johannesburg - Rea Vaya lost a bid in the Labour Court in Johannesburg on Monday to stop its bus drivers from striking, bus operator Piotrans said.
"Management has called an urgent meeting to decide what our next step will be," spokesperson Eric Motshwane said.
Striking Rea Vaya bus drivers want their salaries tripled from R5 000 to R15 000. They also insist on medical aid and a pension fund. The strike began on August 1.
Motshwane said 20 employees were dismissed after they failed to report for work on August 8.
No violence or intimidation had been reported so far.
