Reitz farm attack accused denied bail

2011-08-10 20:13
Johannesburg - Two teenagers accused of killing a farmer in Reitz, Free State, were denied bail by the Bethlehem Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, police said.

Sergeant Mmako Mophireng said the case against the two, aged 16 and 17, was postponed to August 24.

They allegedly murdered Thinus Uitenweerde and buried him in a shallow grave on his Reitz farm on August 1.

One of the two apparently worked on the farm a few days before the incident.

Uitenweerde's son called the police after a stranger answered a telephone call he made to his parent's home.
