Rescuers battle to free boy from drain
Johannesburg - Rescue workers were battling to free a 9-year-old boy stuck in a drain in Bombela, on the KwaZulu-Natal south coast, on Friday night, paramedics said.
They had spent two hours trying to free him by 19:30, said Netcare 911 spokesperson Jeffrey Wicks.
"It is thought that the boy had crawled into the drain to retrieve a mango and thereafter became tightly wedged inside."
Wicks said the boy was in a stable condition.
