Road barricaded in protest for school

2012-03-02 13:07
Polokwane - Police were keeping watch outside Steilloop, in Limpopo, at midday on Friday, after hundreds of residents barricaded the Groblersbrug road, police said.

"The situation is calm now, but the police will continue to monitor the area," Lieutenant Colonel Mohale Ramatseba said around noon.

"On Friday morning, the residents barricaded the R11 between Mokopane and Lephalale with rocks and burning tyres because they want a school in the area."

Traffic was affected. The road is a point of entry into Botswana.

Ramatseba said no one was arrested, but a public violence docket was opened.
