Road barricaded in protest for school

2012-03-02 13:07

Polokwane - Police were keeping watch outside Steilloop, in Limpopo, at midday on Friday, after hundreds of residents barricaded the Groblersbrug road, police said.

"The situation is calm now, but the police will continue to monitor the area," Lieutenant Colonel Mohale Ramatseba said around noon.

"On Friday morning, the residents barricaded the R11 between Mokopane and Lephalale with rocks and burning tyres because they want a school in the area."

Traffic was affected. The road is a point of entry into Botswana.

Ramatseba said no one was arrested, but a public violence docket was opened.

It is easy KEEP ON VOTING ANC you will get your schools, clinics etc

      Peter-Peter - 2012-03-02 13:18

Is protesting a drag? tired of throwing sticks and stones at each other to no avail? VOTE NOW! and you will get a job that handles the lives of MILLIONS and destroy them in the blink of an eye! BUT THATS NOT ALL, included in the package is a free tshirt and KFC hamper

      Bardy - 2012-03-02 13:40

You know it baffles me... Why not do the civilized thing and get a petition, have the community sign it and hand it over to the local municipality or to the government? Why do you need to disrupt traffic, vandalize and loot when you want something? Geezz...

      PB - 2012-03-02 13:59

Bardy, no, that is the white imperialst way of doing things. And on top of that, it is much more fun destroying something while making a nuisance of yourself. And remember the added perks - free tshirt and KFC.... And next time - "we'll vote ANC AGAIN" otherwise the tokolosh will get us. How pathetic

      Silvana - 2012-03-02 14:13

@Bardy. I agree. That's what you and I would do and we would most probably succeed. But I have seen time and again, nobody in municipalities and government listen to the Blacks unless they go on the rampage.

      Silvana - 2012-03-02 14:16

@Bardy. There is more class distinction between Blacks than there is between Whites.

      Irene - 2012-03-02 14:53

Bardy ~ Because you're not dealing with civilised people.

      Shirley - 2012-03-02 16:57

Hoisa: So why do they keep voting for the same "no service" and then protest??Pretty stupid dont you think?

  • Yolanda - 2012-03-02 13:21

haven't south africans ever heard of a petition???????

      Tony - 2012-03-02 13:47

Probably protest for a petition ..... It seems to be the way things are done here in Africa.

These folk are going to be real upset when they get told that the Limpopo provence is bankrupt and they are NOT getting a school.

      PB - 2012-03-02 14:01

The funds were most likely redirected to cart the masses to JHB in support of juliaaaaaaaas's court appearances

It certainly is a grrrreat example the adults are setting for their children! Now look children, if you want something and can't have it, burn something, block the roads and throw rocks at the police!

  • Irene - 2012-03-02 14:52

That's right. Protest to have a school so that you can burn it down!

  • Shaun Walker - 2012-03-02 16:03

This comes as no surprise. It is the african way to cause disruption to gain attention. And then if they get what they want they will destroy that too because they will want something more.

      Tony - 2012-03-02 16:16

Need to be carefull Shaun, I made the same comment earlier and the comment was censored..... Or removed or ...
