Johannesburg - Certain roads would be closed off and traffic diverted for the 702 Walk the Talk, Johannesburg metro police said on Saturday.

"Traffic will be diverted on several roads in Emmerentia and Greenside where 95 000 walkers will be expected for the 702 Walk the Talk," said Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar.

"Motorists are advised to avoid Barry Hertzog Avenue between Empire Road and Judith Road."

He said motorists could use Oxford Road as an alternative route.

Only one lane would be open in a northerly direction on Beyers Naude Drive between Main Road and Thomas Bowler Street.

"Traffic diversions will be in place from 04:00 up until 14:00," said Minnaar.
