Roads blocked in councillor protest

2011-06-07 07:24

Johannesburg - Residents of Magogoe Koikoi in the North West have barricaded roads in the area in a protest against the appointment of an ANC councillor, the SABC reported on Tuesday.

It is believed that the community was demonstrating because Mahikeng Local Municipality's Ward 19 appointed ANC candidate Shimane Moremedi instead of their preferred independent candidate, Nduna Mangayi.

Residents used burning tyres, old cars and stones to block the roads.

This is what you will get. Vote ANC and we will select the councellors after the election by Zuma. Now we have a major problem on our hands. How on earth can you believe the ANC and Zuma? I do not pity you at all, you got what you voted for and deserve what you getting. Wake up people, you vote with your hearts and not your minds. The ANC is not the way nor the future of this wonderful land.

"It is believed that the community was demonstrating because Mahikeng Local Municipality's Ward 19 appointed ANC candidate Shimane Moremedi instead of their preferred independent candidate"

      BigD - 2011-06-07 09:23

@paulf. They did vote with their hearts and not with their minds.

      changeisGood - 2011-06-07 11:45

@paulf Yeah right, so you mean to say ANC supporters are brainless, then why the hell do you keep on convincing us to vote the DA, does this mean you want the brainless to now form part of the brainy DA supporters, who are you fooling? let the brainless stay with their useless ANC and destroy RSA as you are predicting. just be a spectator and watch.

      paulf - 2011-06-07 12:30

@Changeisgood. I have not mentioned anything about voting for the DA. There are plenty of other parties that one can vote for. My common sense tells me that the ANC is definately not a party to vote for, I look at the parties policies and performance. I hope that answers your question???

  • Mdavu-zn - 2011-06-07 07:31

Just imagin. An ANC to be replaced by an independent candidate. WAKE UP cANCer!! Time for change is now!! People are getting tired of these stupid empty promises of you. You think you own this country.

Go residents of Magogoe Koikoi, go. ANC is bulldozing its councillors into local municipalities wards.

      Martin du Plessis - 2011-06-07 10:08

They voted for this kind of treatment in the first place.

We are a sham democracy. In actual fact it is a mobocracy. Where in a real democracy would the utterances of Julias Malema be allowed? Also the corruption and use of state agencies for party purposes. In which democracy is the state allowed to compete with business? In which real democracy do you elect a party who will choose and install your representatives once they are in power? In which real democracy do people vote soley by race regardless of consequences? No, we are barbarians.

      OuWitBooi - 2011-06-07 08:40

No, they should not accept this. They were promised by Zuma that these problems would be addressed after the elections. Now they want action following on from the promises. The people are sick of promises and you can expect a lot more of this sort of action in the coming months.

      Thangy - 2011-06-07 08:50

@OuWitBooi Zuma and his empty promises

      LagUTroll - 2011-06-07 09:25

@OuWitBooi "The people are sick of promises" And yet they still vote for the same party.

  • ratex - 2011-06-07 08:32

My heart bleeds custard for you. Change your vote from a racist communistic cANCer to something a bit more liberal and capitalist like the DA. Or is this still going to be the white mans fault?

Mine pumps pink custard for them. Just deserts ,I think is the saying.

  • Christo - 2011-06-07 08:47

Why do they believe the ANC when they should know by now that they are a bunch of lying theives? How many times do they want to bump their heads against the same wall???? I really have no sympathy for these donkies, or are they Asses? which ever, they are the most gullable idiots to roam the face of the earth and should not be allowed to vote, seriously!

      changeisGood - 2011-06-07 11:56

@ Voyager...It's not the ANC fault the voters love them, if you are unhappy find somewhere else live happly ever after, because in South Africa the Majority likes the ANC.

      Voyager - 2011-06-07 13:39

They'll come to their senses soon enough - it's already happening. You go find yourself another gravy train - us South Africans are tired of being fleeced. Your time is up!

  • LagUTroll - 2011-06-07 09:13

If you vote for Shimane Moremedi, and then get Shimane Moremedi, why are you protesting?

      Martin du Plessis - 2011-06-07 10:12

Cause the ANC told them to vote for the party and not the person, and they fell for it YET AGAIN.

  • tebogophora - 2011-06-07 09:13

      Born To Fish - 2011-06-07 09:31

      uhm 65% did!

      Smindlo - 2011-06-07 10:44

look even if we voted ANC, so what, I would rather die in poverty than vote for DA.

  • Margaret Gould - 2011-06-07 09:27

In typical African fashion voters vote for the 'black' party. Then protest when there is no delivery. Democracy means that you can vote for another political party if you want change. You get what you vote for Kla!

      changeisGood - 2011-06-07 12:05

@ Margaret Gould...Non of the protestors asked for a DA councellor to replace the ANC one, they want an Independent candidate. That should tell you that these people do not want the DA either, they want a councellor they chose and who is independent.

      Voyager - 2011-06-07 12:15

I don't see where Margaret said anything about the DA! Your paranoia is showing!

      changeisGood - 2011-06-07 13:09

@ Voyager...The Municipal voting outcomes must be clear that almost 63% of the voters do not want the change you keep on referring to. I feel like I am wasting my time because clearly you do not travel around SA much to notice the difference currently being made by the ANC, take time to travel around SA particularly PDI areas to notice how much progress has been made since 1994, again I do not think you will be able to notice the difference simply because all your life you were naive and never travelled in any of the areas currently being upgraded, so I doubt you will be able to spot the difference, so huiswerk for you, ask anyone coming from SOWETO, they will tell you and probably show you pictures of the pre 94 SOWETO, the township it was and current 2011 SOWETO the Suburb it has become. There is only a few 23% or so that want change.

      Voyager - 2011-06-07 13:41

Yep - 23% and growing as opposed to the cANCer's support of 63% and shrinking. Be afraid, be very afraid!

      Enigma - 2011-06-07 14:44

      changeisGood - 2011-06-07 16:21

@Voyager...Gees you are a control freak, you want to dictate to me who to vote for or teach me to vote the "right" way? right way according to who? Opposing the ANC is right for you and Voting in favour of the mighty ANC is right for me, now get that into your thick skull and stop wanting to control me on who i shold or should not vote for. Teach your kids to vote the right way according to your standatds. The ANC is just perfect for me.

How is it the ANC cant do a simple thing like validate council elections, Zuma/ANC endorsed the election date so its not as if they did not have time. Why don't we hear similar things from the DA.

      Martin du Plessis - 2011-06-07 10:14

... Because it's the DA? They know how to actually RUN what they're in charge of? Also, good point. You've NEVER heard of anything even remotely similar to this fro the DA, have you?

      MoZaHo - 2011-06-07 11:19

Its not us ANC Haters who are protesting. Its the ANC Supporters who are protesting. Just shows you how f***ed up things are within the ANC and with the ANC voter. All of you are absolutely clueless. I know never to stick my finger into a socket twice cause it'll shock me. The ANC supporter just keeps trying and trying, and gets hurt every time, and then they want to run and cry when they do.
