Johannesburg - Robbers have made off with the FNB Stadium's weekend cash takings after a carefully planned heist just hours after the Justin Bieber concert on Sunday, a report said.

According to Eyewitness News, the suspects made off with the money undetected, as officials only became aware of the incident on Monday morning.

The suspects reportedly chiselled away at the stadium's safe room's double-thick walls for several days, officials believe.

Using ropes, the report said, they then lowered themselves through the hole down a 3m drop.

The report said that the Soweto stadium was on lockdown as police and other experts combed the area for clues.

It is not known how much money was stolen.
