Cape Town - Police say seven armed robbers executed a cash-in-transit heist while security personnel were loading an ATM with cash at Nyanga Junction on Thursday morning.

The robbers fled with an undisclosed amount of cash and while running to their get-away vehicle, police responded to an emergency call.

As they were running towards Gugulethu, the robbers spotted the police patrol and opened fire.
One man in his 30s was wounded by the police, while another in his 20s was arrested in NY3 Gugulethu.

Two firearms were recovered.

The remaining five suspects managed to get away with the cash.

The police have launched a manhunt.
