Cape Town - A story published on News24 on Wednesday 22 August 2012 with the headline "Mugabe pal must stop building SA mansion", which was aggregated from a story published by The Times, has been removed after it was found to be erroneous.

The Times story stated that Zimbabwean businessman Robert Mhlanga was a close friend of President Robert Mugabe, which he has denied.

It also incorrectly stated that the KwaZulu-Natal High Court ordered him to halt construction on a R200m house in Ballito, apparently because his building plans had not been approved prior to construction.

In fact, the judgment was against the Ballito Lifestyle Centre, Kwadukuza municipal spokesperson Sifiso Zulu told The Times. An application seeking an interim interdict regarding further construction against properties in which Mhlanga has an indirect interest failed to get a stop order, Zulu said.

News24 apologises for the error.
