Bloemfontein - A teenager who ran away from his home in
Bethlehem was found safely over the weekend.
The 16-year-old left a letter to his father in which he said
he wanted to go on an adventure by himself, reported Volksblad.
“We found him. He is safe. Thanks to everyone who helped
with the search,” said Captain Koos Pieterse, the relieved father of Janco
Pieterse.
The teen went missing on Saturday evening between 23:00 and
01:00.
He was found following a radio broadcast after someone
spotted him at the Loch Logan Waterfront in Bloemfontein.
He appeared to have hitchhiked to Bloemfontein from
Bethlehem.
Captain Pieterse said his son had apologised in his letter
and said he wanted to go on a journey of his own, but would remain in contact
with them.
“He used a lot of quotes from songs which pointed to how you
could appear happy from the outside but not be happy inside.”
The teen’s sister, Andri Coetzee said after the boy was
found: “We are very relieved. We now know he is safe. It was a rather tense
evening and morning.”
