Cape Town - The son of former 7de Laan actor Waldemar Schultz died when he fell off a cliff in Hermanus on Saturday, according to Sunday's Rapport.

Kieran Schultz, 14, was walking on the wall at the Old Harbour, built to keep people away from the cliff, around 13:00, according to a woman who saw him fall. She asked to remain anonymous.

His foot slipped, he tried to grab hold of a branch, but fell about 27 metres into shallow water.

Kieran's friend Gustav Eichstadt, who was with him at the time, ran to call Kieran's father, who was in a nearby coffee shop.

Paramedics tried in vain to save Kieran. He was a Grade Eight pupil at the Parel Vallei High School in Somerset West. His mother, Ira Blanckenberg, was in Ermelo at the time, judging the ATKV theatre competition.
