Johannesburg - A 6-year-old boy was attacked by a predator in the Moremi Game Reserve in the Okavango Delta.

The family from Auckland Park were camping at the Khwai camp site in Botswana, reported Beeld. It was not clear whether it was a leopard or hyena that attacked the little boy, Joke Kotter.

The boy sustained multiple head wounds.

He was at the camp site with his family at 19:00 on Monday evening when the family suddenly “saw a shadow and something jumping on the boy”.

The animal quickly disappeared into the darkness.

The boy was taken to a hospital in Maun and was released the next day.

A local newspaper reported on the incident and the family was believed to still be in Botswana.
