SA braces for cold front
Johannesburg - Winter will turn a notch colder at the end of the week, a Weather SA forecaster said on Wednesday.
"The communities in Gauteng should brace themselves for cold and windy conditions this coming Friday," said Puseletso Mofokeng.
A strong cold front would pass through the country on Thursday evening bringing "bitterly cold" conditions to Gauteng and the Free State.
There was a chance of snow on the mountains of neighbouring Lesotho, with snowfalls also possible in the Ukhahlamba Municipality, in the Eastern Cape, and on the western high mountains of the Western Cape.
This was expected to spread to Calvinia and Sutherland in the Northern Cape.
Mofokeng said seas would be "very rough" with wave heights of between four and six metres expected along the Cape coast.
