SAA personnel and drugs

Johannesburg - South African Airways was struggling to control a rise in drug smuggling by its own staff, the Star newspaper reported on Saturday.
This came in the wake of three stewards being arrested in the past seven months for smuggling dagga and cocaine.
SAA spokesperson Jacqui O'Sullivan said in a statement released on Friday that the airline condemned such behaviour.
The airline was however adamant that it was an international problem.
In the latest incident, a 40-year-old stewardess, Lindiwe Luthuli, was arrested and pleaded guilty to smuggling about 5kg of cocaine and 10kg of dagga into the United Kingdom. She is expected to be sentenced in May.
Another SAA female crew member was arrested in January on suspicion of smuggling cocaine into the UK.
