Five-year-old missing in Limpopo

2014-01-02 12:11

A Limpopo village is up in arms accusing police of incompetence after the disappearance of a five-year-old boy. The child has been missing for four days.WATCH

Johannesburg - There are still no clues as to the whereabouts of an 18-month-old girl who went missing while her mother was on duty with the SA National Defence Force in Sudan.

Ronewa Matshinyatsimbi went missing from her home on a military base in Nigel on New Year’s Eve.

Ronewa’s mother, Neo Nkoane, left the toddler in the care of her boyfriend, Themba Masinga, who has since been arrested after police found that he had lied in his statement, The New Age reported.

Masinga told police he received a phone call from a woman who was offering assistance as a nanny but it was subsequently found that no such phone call was received.

According to the Pretoria News, Masinga claimed that the woman, who he had just met, slept in the same room as Rowena. The next morning, both the child and the woman were missing.

The SANDF says the police are handling the matter.

A case of kidnapping has been opened. Anyone with information on Rowena’s whereabouts can contact Warrant Officer Mjoli on 011 7379638 or 0739913351.
