A 18-year-old youth accused of a business robbery in Meadowlands appeared in the Protea Magistrate's Court on Thursday, Soweto police said.

"The case against him has been postponed to December 5," said Constable Sibusiso Chauke.

The teenager was arrested on Wednesday after a shop in Zone 10, Meadowlands, was robbed.

Five men entered the shop and threatened the owner with a firearm. They took R2500 in cash and airtime worth R1500 before fleeing, Chauke said.

The shop owner identified the 18-year-old and he was arrested when police saw him on the same street as the shop.

The teenager had been linked to four other cases involving murder, robbery, assault, and possession of a dangerous weapon, Chauke said.

He allegedly stabbed a man to death in March 2009. The man's friend, who was at the scene, opened a case of murder against him.

He would appear in the Protea Magistrate's Court on Friday on the murder charge, Chauke said.
