Port Elizabeth - Animal welfare inspectors have been sent to an Eastern Cape village to investigate after the SPCA was informed of a case of extreme animal cruelty.

Eyewitness News reported that the national SPCA received photographs of a man hanging a live dog from a wire fence in a village near Cala.

Christine Kuch from the SPCA said: “I’ve been involved with the SPCA for 20 years, it takes a lot to shock us.”

She said the person who had taken the pictures should have reported the incident to police.

She added that the organisation would await a report by their inspectors.
