Safa boss injured after attack

2007-04-03 10:14

Johannesburg - The SA Football Association's (Safa) boss Raymond Hack was attacked in a robbery at his home in Waverley in Johannesburg, 702 news reported on Tuesday.

The radio station reported that Hack had been attacked by an intruder at his home in the early hours of Monday morning. Hack, who was alone at the time, had heard noises coming from inside the house and went to investigate. He found an intruder who had apparently broken in through a second-storey window.

It is understood that the Safa chief executive had got into a fight with the robber punching him several times.

A witness who spoke to 702 said that Hack had been bleeding profusely from the face.

He drove himself to hospital for treatment.

His hand may have been broken in the fight with the robber.

When phoned by Sapa to confirm or deny reports of the attack, Hack said: "I have no comments on that."

Pretoria police said that they were not aware of an attempted robbery at Hack's house.

Hack is the second prominent soccer official to have fallen victim to crime in less then a week.

Kaizer Chiefs manager Bobby Motaung's teenage daughter and three domestic workers were attacked by robbers at his Houghton home last week.
