Johannesburg - Two police constables accused of
corruption appeared in the Randburg Magistrate's Court, in Johannesburg, on
Thursday.
Constables Linda Mlambo and Mahlang Shaku were released
on bail of R3 000 each, said police spokesperson Lungelo Dlamini.
The matter was postponed to 20 February for further
investigation.
On 6 January, they pulled over a motorist and accused him
of being in possession of drugs.
They allegedly took his driver's licence and forced him
to withdraw R1 000 from an ATM at the Sunninghill Village Shopping Centre to
have it returned.
The two police officers, who were based at the Sandton
police station, would be suspended, Dlamini said.
