Sanral warns of tolls hoax

2012-04-17 21:06

Johannesburg - Hoax phone calls are being made warning road users that their cars will be confiscated if they are not registered for the Gauteng e-tolling system, the SA National Roads Agency Limited (Sanral) said on Tuesday.

"It has been brought to Sanral's attention that road users have been contacted by people claiming to be Sanral staff members and providing users with their vehicle licence details," it said in a statement.

It urged the public to report calls to the fraud hotline on 080 020 4558, as Sanral had not instructed anyone to contact vehicle owners.

"Sanral again emphasises that nobody's vehicle can be taken away from them if they choose not to register."

Sounds more like scare tactics employed by SANRAL - can't wait till someone exposes them for the frauds they are.

      Assegai - 2012-04-17 21:27

I agree. I don't trust them at all. Bunch of liars. I wouldn't call them even if I do get a hoax call.

Lies, lies and more lies from SCUMral. We know that its you and that these bloody agents acted to soon and were only supposed to call us after the 30th. Voetsak maan!

  • Kingpin - 2012-04-17 21:32

Sanral, please shut up you are discusting and cruel

  • Lacrimose - 2012-04-17 21:36

How are people getting contact 'phone numbers & vehicle license details? Who is giving out our information - and for how much?

      Assegai - 2012-04-17 21:37

      Very Good Question!

      Frans - 2012-04-17 22:12

Lacrimose, I don't think Sanral thought about that(your question) before making this statement. Us 'ordinary' people are not as stupid as Sanral think we are.

      GuySoskin - 2012-04-17 22:14

Sars, PIC is the only logical source..

  • Piet - 2012-04-17 21:51

I can just see the rows and rows of calldesk agents, GAUTENG telephone directories in Front of them. Who else is going to waste call time? Damn you are taking us for idiots everytime you do something!

      GuySoskin - 2012-04-17 22:17

Piet, its the tipping point for this idiocracy.

It is obviously SANRAL's scare tactics, what does an outsider has to gain if road user's registered. And mean where do they get the owners' contact details. II don't believe anything that comes out of SANRAL' Communication department, now they are saying over 200 000 users or cars have been registered and this does not make sense. If there were 200 000 user registered last year how come the reached 200 000 users again so quick while last week it was reported that the registration offices are empty after user had to re-register after the changing of T&C

      GuySoskin - 2012-04-17 22:25

Very, Very and more very expensive, manipulated, workshopped, spun, media suppressed, contract manipulated, last minute, sorry I forgot (public) information..

Will the fraud hot line take any fraud and corruption by the ANC Government and investigate info ,because Zuma is not prepared to prosecute the exposed and audited fraud of ANC Government civil servants? ? ? ? ? ? ?

      Farmworker - 2012-04-18 00:48

@Kaapseklonk Well your message was all fine until you create what we call “Noise” in IT, and I often ask myself whether you are able to write the word Government with prefixing it with ANC. Your comment is rather disingenuous, we all know that ANC is the ruling party but is not Parliament/National Assembly. Your statement is not that different from saying the killing of farmer could be blamed on Black while the most recent killing indicates different story. Why include ANC in your comment about corruption, do you mean ANC members are Corrupt/Criminal, you know your statement can’t be correct. Did you read anywhere where it was stated that the implementation of the toll-road was an ANC resolution, and If was do you think the ANC will be so divided on this. Don’t you think it could have been implemented long time ago? Again do you think they would be so dump to implement this while knowing that the elections are virtually around the corner? Next time if you want your message to be free of “Noise” please you the Government and ANC separately, until then your message would never get through successfully

  • Marion - 2012-04-18 07:07

And you expect people to give you access to their bank accounts when you or your 'associates' already have access to their phone numbers and vehicle registration numbers? Not in this lifetime.

  • Ashwin - 2012-04-18 07:38

    SANRAL is a hoax

  • Zengfuey - 2012-04-18 07:44

"Sanral again emphasises that nobody's vehicle can be taken away from them if they choose not to register" RIGHT'o that would be infringing on the rights of the Metro Police and we have already seen the minister and the ceo trying to establish a quasi force.
