School principal arrested for rape

2012-02-21 09:25

Polokwane - A Limpopo school principal has been arrested for allegedly raping a former primary school pupil, according to a report on Tuesday.

The principal allegedly had sex with the 13-year-old girl on the back seat of his car on the road between Vuwani and HaMasia villages, outside Thohoyandou, the Sowetan newspaper reported.

The girl's aunt said the girl had confessed to having sex with the principal after a "cat-fight" with a friend.

"I only became aware that all was not right after the victim had a cat-fight with her friend over the principal," the aunt told the newspaper.

"When I asked them why they were fighting, the friend told me that the victim had accused her of dating the principal while fully knowing that the principal was hers."

The girl told her aunt that she had been having sex with the principal since last year when she was in Grade 7 at the school. She was now a pupil at another school.

The principal was arrested on Sunday. He would appear in court on February 28 for a formal bail application.

Where else in the world would this happen?Rape but the two girls are fighting over him

      customdesign - 2012-02-21 09:54

It is statutory rape with a minor- even if they give consent it is still rape. This would happen in most countries in the world

      spartanx93 - 2012-02-21 10:01

These jungle schools are loosing the plot.....

      richard.hipkin - 2012-02-21 10:20

      Limpompo... Eish...

      zodwam - 2012-02-21 10:31

Martin the girl is 13 yrs. Think of all da stupid things u used 2 fight 4 when u were dat age! The adult here knew very well how immature dis child is and he used her & made her believe he loves her... truth is these kids r just being kids they cud b fighting ova a tennis ball bt then a corrupt adult made them think love is child's play...

      procold2 - 2012-02-21 10:40

hope they throw the book at him and gets jail time even though the girl allowed it, he is a person put in a position of trust and has abused that,he knew it was a crime to sleep with a minor.

      Bryan - 2012-02-21 10:46

As much of a disgrace to humankind that this prinipal is, you also have to look at the parents/gaurdians of the two girls in question! This is moral decay in the highest degree and is 100% reflective of the level of leadership from the top down..!!

      Janice - 2012-02-21 10:50

Now I think I have heard it all!!!!!!!!

      procold2 - 2012-02-21 11:07

@bryan, this is limpopo, i dont say it cant happen elsewhere else but this province is vrot from top to bottom.

      Mattewis Kat - 2013-09-10 07:11

@spartanx93 What do you mean "losing"? They never had a plot.

  • Peter - 2012-02-21 09:34

Limpopo is a den of iniquity

      E=MC2 - 2012-02-21 10:18

the land where everyone is related

  • Olivia - 2012-02-21 09:37

This is insane, where has the innocence of young children gone to? This report is so pathetic, makes me physically sick.

  • Annelise - 2012-02-21 09:37

Limpopo AGAIN! What the hell is going on over there? Always in the news, never because something good happened!

  • kgomotso.radise - 2012-02-21 09:37

Where is SA going if nurses, doctors, principal, teacher, MP, politicians and police are raping where must we run to?

      Leon - 2012-02-21 10:31

Emigrate to a first world country

      zodwam - 2012-02-21 11:29

But then dat won't solve da problem @Leon... Our forefathers didn't run away but fought 4 freedom during the apartheid era, they fought 4 us the children. So if we run away wont we b neglecting wat our fathers have fought & died for? yes, it might b the easy way to run bt wat about our land? our country? do we let it die like dat? or do we grow up as adults & become responsible beings 4 da sake of our children?

      John - 2012-02-21 13:07

Bring back death penalty !!!! You want solution....do it.

      RichyDigitized - 2012-02-21 13:26

Reminds me of the ANC, taking advantage and stealing from its people. The freedom your forefathers fought for has been changed to this zodwam. I think it's time for a new change and it can only start with a new government! Who will take this kind of treatment to children and the people in this country seriously.

  • Xoli - 2012-02-21 09:38

What? dont they have prostitutes in Limpopo? what a disgrace for the already fu**ed up education sysytem...

  • Hannes - 2012-02-21 09:40

OMG... whats worst? the fact that the principle 'raped' her(think it is more a case of statuary rape) or the fact that the been sleeping together since last year and the two friends fighting over him.... how times has changed!!!

  • Paula - 2012-02-21 09:40

Anywhere that Malema is seen as mentor you surely going to encounter such immorality...The infleunce he has on those people shame is equivalent to a mental slow puncture (AIDS-...The symptoms of AIDS are primarily the result of conditions that do not normally develop in individuals with healthy immune(mental) systems. Most of these conditions are infections caused by Malema and his parasites that are normally controlled by the elements of the immune system that HIV damages.

  • Wt - 2012-02-21 09:40

No more extra classes for children!

  • Craig - 2012-02-21 09:43

What a sick society we live in. This is absolutely crazy!

  • Reggie - 2012-02-21 09:46

This is 1 sick country BUT the principle should know better. I mean he is like a father figure during school hours to these girls and tok advantage of there poverty (most problably). He should spend a very long time in jail being other guys girlfriends.

  • Marion - 2012-02-21 09:52

As Oprah once said, 'even if I was walking around buck-naked in front of him he was the adult'... In this case is he not only the adult, he is the frigging principal with influence over these kids. Got no comment on these kids whose hormones had started raging and though this was an acceptable solution...

  • Bob - 2012-02-21 09:52

Remember the time we used to go to school to learn..! and sex education was an extra curriculum!

  • Marion - 2012-02-21 09:54

We are always given the impression that the Eastern Cape is our worst province, but I believe that Limpopo has that dubious honour.

  • John - 2012-02-21 09:54

If its not the teachers its the principal.... Do they have ethics, morals or standards. The education department has never been harsh enough with pupil / teacher sex. Untill they do we will continue to read these stories.

  • Mark - 2012-02-21 09:57

Cut his nuts off and feed them to him!!

  • Thoka - 2012-02-21 09:57

    wtf. chop his D!ck.

  • Susan - 2012-02-21 09:57

Sad, but merely another statistic in Limpopo.

  • Rinnewien - 2012-02-21 09:58

Rape? My . . .. How can it be rape if they can get free birth control and go for an abortion without adult consent? And being a principal? Doesn't he know better?

      Marion - 2012-02-21 11:13

Rene... that free abortion without parental consent is one of the worst pieces of legislation ever introduced in this country. Gives paedophiles (that is what this guy is) free reign to get rid of the consequences of their deviant behaviour without the parents ever being aware of their child's abuse.

  • Bruce - 2012-02-21 10:00

What a disgrace, how can a person in a posistion of authority do something like this? Even if she instigated he should have known better! Sickening. DO PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTRY HAVE NO MORALS?!

      Wim - 2012-02-21 13:05

Zuma testified under oath that in his culture a woman once aroused must be pleased. He also testified that the concept of rape was foreign to his culture. Obviously this 13year was in heat. The principal just lived Zuma's culture.

      Anthony - 2012-02-21 15:12

yes zuma is proud of his culture

  • Peter - 2012-02-21 10:03

Limpopo, why am I not suprise.

  • E=MC2 - 2012-02-21 10:09

wow... AGAIN the shallow gene pools in Limpopo causing problems!

  • ngoako.mathekga - 2012-02-21 10:11

Is this the end of the world? 13 yrs old fighting for old man?

  • elsabe.wessels1 - 2012-02-21 10:11

WTH??? A relationship? Since last year? A primary school learner? He should have known better! She shouldn't even be aware of things like this at her age! And a fight with her friend over him?? I am completely shocked.

  • Tammy - 2012-02-21 10:11

and people wonder why the aids statistics are so high

      Wim - 2012-02-21 13:08

No problem here. If this girl was a virgin, the principal is cured now.

  • Linda - 2012-02-21 10:19

  • Bibi - 2012-02-21 10:31

It certainly looks like that none of our state institutions are safe anymore - hospitals, police stations, psychiatric institutions and least of all the schools. Symptoms of a sick society.

  • Shane - 2012-02-21 10:33

    Pathetic.

  • Tau - 2012-02-21 10:38

Male teachers and Girls not a new things. Its has happen in the past and continous even today. Thats wrong all together. Now the Principal. I think this the cancer SA has. It continous in the work place. Also victims being women and you ask your self what is happen. Abuse of Power or Authority.

  • mabandla.magoqwana - 2012-02-21 10:39

perhaps that's what malema's want in his banana province everybody can do anything without facing the law .that teacher will be out in few weeks to carry on with his work & they will say not enough evidence coz of the poor investigation & justice in this country. he took advantage of the girl either she was poor or financial difficulties at home . he will buy out his freedom to be free...

  • Piston - 2012-02-21 10:40

lol...facepalm...have no words for all concerned...the legacy of Zuma's moral regeneration programme...

      Marion - 2012-02-21 11:19

      ... regeneration or degeneration ...

  • ivan.coetzee2 - 2012-02-21 10:40

Typical News24, this is STATUTORY RAPE, idjits, not the same thing as RAPE. Geez what wont you guys to sensationalise things

      Marion - 2012-02-21 11:23

Whether it is statutory rape or rape, it is child abuse at its worst. Does the exclusion of the word 'statutory' sensationalize it? He started having sex with her when she was twelve. Did he just wait until she was past the age for rape or sexual assault? Statutory rape is from 12-16. 12 !!! The oke is a predatory paedophile. Finish 'n klaar.

  • Preggy - 2012-02-21 10:44

Why is everyone so surprised by this??? These people still live by caveman principles! And you'd be surprised at our 13 year old's these days. Permanently on BBM and hanging out with boyfriends all over the place. Times have changed people. Everything revolves around sex these days. From the young to the old, married or divorced, doesn't really matter. Everyone's getting in on the action. We are on the road to self destruction. People don't have ethics and morals anymore.

  • giovanni.nieuwenhuizen - 2012-02-21 10:47

Eish Limpopo... always the same stories about you.. you must love the news, This is really sad!!!

  • Nkulekweni - 2012-02-21 10:54

We desperately need change in this country. This animal like selfishness, the callousness and deep levels of mysoginy are sickening. Where are the principals children? What would he feel like if someopne did this to them? Such things should not be allowed to happen. So in Limpopo this culture of sleeping with students starts at school. By the time students get to university they are not shocked by lecturers coming with such propositions to them. Rape..statutory and other should carry higher sentences. A professional who abuses his position of trust should be publicly named and shamed, stripped of the right to practice and given a stiff sentence. Children should be educated on their human rights and be encouraged by their parents to report such behaviour. There is a child line in this country...is it used at all?

      desertratbkf - 2012-02-21 18:06

Indeed Nkulekweni! Well said! However, the only way to do this, is don't be like the old regime, sheep followers! Vote for CHANGE! It's your constitutional right! If you're unhappy with the way things are, you damned well CHANGE IT!!!!! Problem is, a huge majority of our 1994 voters, vote for the ruling party because out president tells them, the ancestors will get hold of them. Terribly sad!

  • Piet - 2012-02-21 10:58

    only in Africa!!!

      Marion - 2012-02-21 11:25

      ... not true...

      desertratbkf - 2012-02-21 18:07

Silly comment! We live in a good place, just with bad governance!

  • Kgolane - 2012-02-21 11:04

This pricipal is out of order...!!!! This is not a Limpopo thing though its an international problem

      Schmee - 2012-02-21 11:16

Kgolane, almost every day Limpopo features in the news with some corruption or rape or murder case. Hopefully you just have very good journalists there but Limpopo is fast getting a bad name as being a cesspool for the worst of the worst.

      desertratbkf - 2012-02-21 18:19

Indeed it does! But NEVER, EVER, like we see on News24, every single day of our lives!!!!! Do you chop, ever read "local" articles from international paper?

      desertratbkf - 2012-02-21 18:20

The world is bigger than Limpopo! trust me!

  • Murechen - 2012-02-21 11:04

Are the teachers & principals beign properly vetted because it seems that our schools are run by a bunch of child rapists.

  • Schmee - 2012-02-21 11:09

And yet another thing crawls out of Limpopo. Do they just have journalists that are wide awake there or is Limpopo a cesspool for vermin?

  • Jason - 2012-02-21 11:17

Thanks Limpopo, between you and the Eastern Cape at least we know our flag is being flown high (TIC)

  • Vaaldonkie - 2012-02-21 11:21
