Security guard lynched, 2 hurt

Johannesburg - An attack on three security guards in Germiston, which left one dead - hanged from a tree - and two injured, could be related to the strike in the security industry, said East Rand police on Wednesday.
The dead guard - about 30 years old - was found hanging from a tree with his hands tied, and marks on his body suggested he had been assaulted.
Superintendent Andy Pieke said police still were investigating the motive for the attack, but added: "It cannot be excluded at this stage that it is related to a strike of security workers."
The security company for whom the men work, was told at 05:00 on Wednesday that the premises of Simmer & Jack mine were open, with no guards in sight.
"The owner went to the property and found a badly assaulted guard in the guardroom."
Bullet wounds to head, neck
The man, about 32 years old, was rushed in a critical condition to Rose Acres Clinic before being transferred to Union Hospital in Alberton.
Then, the second guard was found hanged and a third one, in the same age group, has been admitted to Natalspruit Hospital with bullet wounds to his neck and head.
He apparently has been transferred to Chris Hani-Baragwanath Hospital.
Nothing appeared to have been stolen.
