Johannesburg - A security guard was arrested for shooting dead his lover in Ivory Park, Ekurhuleni police said on Thursday.

The guard saw his girlfriend walking with her landlord on Wednesday and asked to speak to her privately, said Constable Neldah Hlase.

After leaving them alone, the landlord heard several gunshots.

The guard drove away in his company car and was traced to Zebediela in Limpopo were he was arrested.

Both he and the deceased were from Venda.
