Cape Town - Seven people were arrested after they allegedly robbed a Gordon's Bay family and raped a pregnant woman before taking off in the family's bakkie, Cape Town police said on Tuesday.
Inspector Bernadine Steyn said intruders entered the house through an open kitchen window at 03:00 on Monday.
Three men - aged 40, 19 and 18 - and a 25-year-old woman who were in the house were threatened with knives and tied up with a telephone cord.
One of the robbers took the woman - who is pregnant - to the bathroom where he raped her.
The robbers fled the scene in the family's bakkie and a car.
The bakkie was recovered by police on Monday morning on a street in Gordon's Bay where it had been involved in an accident.
The four men who were in the vehicle were arrested.
Another three were arrested on Tuesday morning in Khayelitsha after police recognised that the car they were in, was the one used in the robbery.
The suspects, aged between 14 and 22, were expected to appear in the Strand magistrate's court.
