Johannesburg - Seven people were injured when the taxi they were travelling in overturned on the N3 freeway, near the Hammersdale on-ramp in Durban, the city's paramedics said on Saturday.
"When paramedics arrived on the scene they found the taxi lying on its side in the middle of the freeway," said ER24 spokesperson, Derrick Banks.
He said it was believed that a mechanical problem led to the driver losing control of the vehicle.
Two patients had suffered serious injuries and needed specialised equipment to help protect their necks and backs from further injuries.
The other five people, who included the driver, sustained minor to moderate injuries.
All patients were stabilised on scene before being transported to Northdale Hospital for further treatment.
