Pretoria - Convicted murderer Andrew Jordaan is not a killer, the Pretoria High Court heard on Thursday.
"He is not guilty. He is a soft person who loves children," said Jordaan's father Nici.
Jordaan was found guilty on Tuesday of the kidnapping, attempted rape and murder of seven-year-old girl, Sheldean Human.
Jordaan's father told the court that his son attended a special school until Standard Seven and that he and his sister were taken into foster care in the 80s.
Asked why his children were taken away from him, Nici said he and Andrew Jordaan's biological mother had had problems.
He told the court that the mother had a drinking problem.
Earlier on Thursday a clinical psychologist, who took the stand during mitigation of Jordaan's sentencing, described him as a paedophile and as a person who was a danger to society.
