Shopping spree with murdered man's money
Johannesburg - Two men wanted for a murder in Botswana were arrested in separate parts of Gauteng after they were found using the murdered man's credit cards, the Hawks said on Thursday.
Spokesperson McIntosh Polela said one of them, a Nigerian, was arrested by metro police at a roadblock in Midrand on Wednesday. He led police to a rented flat where they found several bank cards.
The second man, a Zambian, was arrested in Johannesburg South on Wednesday after he went to collect tyres he bought using the murdered man's credit card.
Polela said the Botswana businessman was killed in his home country on January 5.
"A subsequent investigation [by Botswana police] revealed that the dead man's credit card was being used in a shopping spree in South Africa.
"It is expected that the Botswana authorities will ask for the extradition of the two men."
