Port Elizabeth - The son of the president of the South African Rugby Football Union (Sarfu) will probably become a State witness in a mysterious case in which a hijacked 4x4 vehicle was found at the family's home in Port Elizabeth over the weekend.
Silas Nkanunu's son, Mongo, explained to police on Tuesday that he was not aware that the luxury Jeep Cherokee had been stolen. Police spokesperson, Andre Beetge, said a friend of Mongo's had apparently left the vehicle at the Nkanunu residence.
Mongo offered to take police to his friend and, if necessary, testify against him in court.
By Tuesday evening, police were still searching for the friend.
The number plates on the vehicle, which was hijacked earlier in September, had been changed.
