Pretoria - Well-known actor and singer Robbie Klay survived a motorcycle accident on Tuesday.
Despite a few scratches, a bruised leg, and a damaged motorcycle, Klay was unscathed.
Klay, 19, on his Kawasaki Ninja 636 was on his way to visit his mother, Jenny Liebenberg, in Faerie Glen in Pretoria on Tuesday.
The driver of a Corsa bakkie skipped a stop sign and drove in front of him.
Fred Meintjies, Klay's manager, said the singer tried to slow down but couldn't stop in time.
"He was about 300m from Montana Hospital when he collided with the bakkie and fell down. He phoned me from the accident scene and was quite upset," said Meintjies.
"I got a fright and got there within minutes. Fortunately he had hurt only his leg and suffered a few scratches.
"I taught Robbie to ride a motorcycle. He bought the bike about seven months ago. He is a good rider and often rides around town."
Meintjies said Klay was admitted to Montana Hospital to determine whether he had suffered internal injuries.
He was discharged after half an hour and was recovering at home.
"Robbie's leg is quite swolen, but fortunately he doesn't have any concerts soon. He will relax at the Wild Coast over New Year's and will start working on shows early in January," said Meintjies.
