Cape Town - A special edition of Walter and Albertina Sisulu: In our lifetime, the biography written by academic Elinor Sisulu about her parents-in-law, will be published in Walter Sisulu's honour in July.
The veteran politician and hero of the struggle died on Monday night.
About 200 leather-bound collector's copies of the biography, which took Sisulu eight years to write, will be sold at about R800 each.
Between 3 000 and 4 000 soft-cover copies of the book will be printed with the initial hard-cover edition that is virtually sold out already. These copies will sell for R175.
"The book was released in December last year and nearly 5 000 copies have been sold already. The demand will probably increase now and we will definitely print another edition," Ingeborg Pelser of New Africa Books said on Tuesday.
She said the book sold well in Johannesburg, while very few copies were sold in KwaZulu-Natal.
"We received a number of new orders on Tuesday after the news that Sisulu had died was released. Seven branches of the Exclusive Books chain ordered more books, while the Robben Island museum ordered 160 copies."
