Johannesburg - Walter Sisulu will be buried in a colourful family plot at the Croesus cemetery in Johannesburg.
The plot is decorated with flowers "which represent the character of a person we are burying here, ANC deputy secretary general Sankie Mthembi-Mahanyele said.
She said Walter Sisulu was a humble, warm and passionate person.
"Wherever he was there was peace."
Speaking at the family plot she said any symbol or tree planted there would symbolise peace.
"We want to create a peaceful environment that will reflect his character."
Mthembi-Mahanyele said the plot had been donated by the Johannesburg City Council.
Next to where Sisulu will be buried is the grave of a former Gauteng provincial legislature member who died in July 1998.
The plot contains a variety of colourful flowers along with pedestals, spouting water.
